They do though. The material is a natural sponge, they absorb everything.
The antique ones that everyone seem to go so crazy for are often heavily caked and very well colored. I've kept them both ways as have others here with no issue either way. Been around longer than YT. Possibly sellers or carvers attempting to generate sells.
It’s weird to me that meerschaum gets sold as though it doesn’t ghost, but the fact that they do ghost is something I consider a virtue. I have a couple that are dedicated to certain blend types and I consider the fact that they are carrying the aroma of all the previous VA’s I’m smoked in them a huge asset. To each their own I suppose
I love it, as I only smoke BURVA blends. So it works for me!

Doctors' meerschaum skulls from the 1800's take it to another level rarely seen since.
Kenan really knocked it out of the park for a modern take though.
Nic collection, I especially like the Doctors pipe. The supraorbital foramen detail blew me away!

That is where the cranial nerve exits the skull. Your interpretation is more interesting however.
The presence of those and the infraorbital foramen really blow me away with the older carvings.
Skeletal structure has been a passion of mine since high school anatomy, skulls in particular.
Depending on the shape of the face they can appear just above the brow and sometimes directly on it but usually line up with the infraorbital and mental foramen. That pipe is only one of a couple that I've seen feature all three.
