Without the "AB" stamp it is just an assumption.
However all the Bauer gourd calabashes I have seen sport the same distinctive briar ferrule
Not all Bauer Calabashes sported the AB cartouche it was dependent on the year of production . His trademark was the thimble joint made out of Briar.

Well it is documented that they all weren’t stamped with his cartouche. Do you realize how easy it would be for a forger to make up an AB stamp and put it on any similar pipe
There are many signs that the fit and finish make it an AB calabash
