How do you deal with it?

I agree with what many have said and I too enjoy my alone time with nothing to do but puff and think. On the other hand, when I am looking for some company, a fellow pipe smoker is a hard thing to find these days.

    Looking for a flavor bomb!

I was eyeballing the no bite as well. I sent an e-mail to check on Canadian shipping. If all's well I'll put in an order with them soon. Thanks guys!

    Looking for a flavor bomb!

Ah, smokingdragon that C&D Autumn Evening has been on my mind for a while now. I didn't spot your mention of it on my first read through. I think I'm going to have to succumb to my curiosity and buy a tin already. Anyone else tried the other Cornell and Diehl Aros? They seem tempting!

    Looking for a flavor bomb!

That Paladin might be interesting. I'm having trouble finding it online though and I would need it shipped to Canada. Keep in mind too, my "local B&M" is the second shelf of my closet lol. If they don't sell it at the grocery store then I have to order it. Does anyone know if Boswells will ship...

    Looking for a flavor bomb!

Well, Boswell's seems the unanimous winner. I'll have to check them out. Vespertillio, you've given me an idea. PM your mailing info to me and I'll send off a generous sample of each and if you're kicking the cig habit I find Dunhills are strong and satisfying. If you have any Aros you wouldn't...

    Looking for a flavor bomb!

Since coming back to pipe smoking I'm finding that I don't enjoy my old blends so much anymore but I'm really taking to the aromatics all of a sudden. I've had a few that had a promising tin note but really just tasted like the VA/Burley blends that they are, with barely a hint of their casing...

Storient Meerschuams Slogan Contest - Win a Pipe

Wow! There's too many replies to read! If I copy someone I apologize, it's unintentional. Storient: Masterful Meerschaums or Your Storient begins here. or Storient: Modern Legends of Meer I was also working on something about "white supremacy" but let's just leave that one alone. lol :puffy:

    Tar

It really depends on the blend as several different strains are used in pipe tobacco and they endure different treatments as well. I think the high temperature cured tobaccos have a lot of the tar and another ingredients roasted out of them while less treated blends are probably about the same...

Serious question about pipes, and cancer

Damn. Wish you luck nsfisher! Steve, all tobacco is a gamble in some way, but pipe smoking is probably the least of all evils.

    Do You Tongue The Slot?

I don't. I don't want any excess moisture of any kind getting into my pipes and when I do touch it by accident my reward is a little tongue bite.

Mom Bought Me This Silver Clad Pipe!!!

Wow, what a piece! And for $20? There's probably more than $20 in silver on that! Your mom wouldn't be interested in adopting another son?? Just askin... :puffy:

Going back to my pipes after cheating with cigs.

I'm weaning myself off the cigs right now too, and I've found most Dunhill blends do it for me. At least enough to knock the craving down to a level where I can ignore it. My evening puff of a large bowl of Nightcap usually does enough that I can get to sleep without an issue as well. Keep in...

    Smoking Weather

Hands down FALL for me. In October I get to walk in the woods hunting upland game birds with the two most beautiful pieces of wood I own, my Briar, and my Browning. Just two more months, can't wait! *claps and giggles* :D

Made the plunge on 2 new pipes!

Jealous! 8O I've been browsing the Petes too and I've got my heart set on one or two. I really like some of their ebony finished pieces.

    Finished restoring estates (pic heavy)

Those are very impressive! The grain you found under all that age is amazing, I'd love to learn to do this. Could save a few bucks restoring nice older pipes rather than buying new.
