I'd like to second the motion on surreal. That term came from art criticism and meant something, more or less, in defining a certain kind of representational visual art and some cinema. For about ten years in the 1950's, it was useful. Now any upsetting or disorienting experience causes a participant or witness to pontificate about it being surreal. No it was real, and apparently very upsetting to the speaker. I guess people are insecure about their vocabularies so grab for that insubstantial word. Or maybe they are about to do an oil painting on the subject -- who knows?

Decimate. When used correctly it is very descriptive. Used incorrectly it is worthless. I realize dictionaries do not agree with me. The word has come to mean whatever the user wishes.
Knowledge of the metric system is helpful in understanding the word. Or Latin...

"I don't disagree" and the ad-speak statement that was over used by the first time it was ever used: "If you think X (fill in the blank), then think again."

I'm going to second MSO on the use of the word "like" and how it irritates the snot out of me. It has become the ultimate connector word in any sentence uttered by millennials also known as the "touched" generation. It has become so pervasive that that I even catch older people--including myself from time to time--using it when it's not necessary.
"Like, I was heading to the store and like, that guy totally cut me off with his car. He was like, such an asshole, like I can't believe they even let him drive, he was like dangerous. Like totally."
My soul hurt just typing that example. Getting rid of that word in sentences would not lessen the drivel, but it would certainly require me to listen to it for a shorter period of time.

"You know." It came from California and spread like herpes. Some people were so afflicted, they couldn't speak the simplest sentence without it. It was a terrible neurological tick. I guess they no longer know, because mostly we don't hear it anymore. But I don't want to jinx the disappearance.

"Actually"
I hear it the most when talking to people about relationships. It seems there's a stigma of online dating. I dont know why but anytime I've spoken to someone and asked, "Where did you guys meet?" They say..."Actually, we met online."
