It's really too bad that it's moribund. It still exists though, with a handful of daily posters still! And, more importantly, it's searchable for the trove of information it contains and the discussions by its very intelligent and informed participants.

I still participate in a few movie-related newsgroups, but like a.s.p they’re shadows of their former selves.

It’s number one because of all the lovely people and polite conversations, the awesome moderators, and the fact I can start a thread and almost keep it from being shut down for a whole 6 hours.

Not only shut down but deleted. I woke up the next morning to see what the carnage was and poof gone. The last thing I remember was Ed Asner.
