Whipping this dead horse some more.
Said nameless company has a mission to produce the purest product with the least amount of pesky additives. They pride themselves on doing this. Every time a tin shows up moldy, like Temple Bar most recently, they make good on replacing it and state that they have solved the issue. Which holds true until the next moldy tin shows up. More than one observer has pointed out that the problems seem to center around products using red Virginia.
The problem is pride, or an excess of it. They take pride in producing the most natural unadulterated product possible. That the product repeatedly has mold issues is a lesser concern because it's natural, and that's what matters. Maybe a bit less pride, with a bit more humility, coupled with a gestalt understanding of the factors involved, would lead to a better overall result.
