North Georgia mountains.
I need to get some Randy Newman on vinyl. Of course this reminds me that I don’t have any Dr John on vinyl either. I used to get those two guys confused all the time… for some reason. Some of their songs, remind me of the other.
Randy Newman is one of the most underrated in my opinion. I'd recommend seeking out one of his boxed sets.
As far as songwriting, he was brilliant - lyrically and instrumentality. I'm quite a big fan

And Dr John - man, one of the coolest concerts I saw. He was at a bluegrass festival in Florida of all places. Definitely summoned those swamp ghosts

I can see the history of the whole human race
It’s all right there - its carved into your face
Should I break it all down - should I fall on my knees
Is there light at the end of the tunnel - can you tell me please
Stand over there by the Cypress tree
Where the Trojan women and children were sold into slavery
Long ago before the First Crusade
Way back before England or America were made
Step right into the burning hell
Where some of the best known enemies of mankind dwell
Mister Freud with his dreams and Mister Marx with his axe
See the raw hide lash rip the skin off their backs

New album. I just unboxed it and spun it three times…

Before you judge me… “what the hell, Cos, electronica?!” Yes, the band is dance/electronica, but Sofi Tukker makes great concept albums, shifting quickly between ideas and styles. These Floridians can really spin styles into a rich woven tapestry of aesthetics so rich you want to run your fingers through.

In Wet Tennis, they take you from the old days of Paris to a layup with white boy Byrd thumping courts, to a euphemistic game of wet tennis, sloshing that racket through a wet game where love is the starting point.

My joy comes from an album as a whole… not a style, or genre, or even a hot song. It’s the songs as woven by artists in the grooves.

This band takes me back to undergrads… girls all fresh out from under parental protection, wanting to try new things… driving to Athens, Georgia… having Michael Stipe buy me a Mountain Dew and talking about shoes, of all things. Shoes… wide eyed girls, star struck… and dancing, more bouncing to the groove of old South rebooted to a new punk electronica. Spanish moss draped over punk rock sculptures of Southern gothic graveyards where the children explore the pleasures of the the ear worms…
A deep dark Southern Acadian blend… smoldering… is required for entry.

The band formerly known as the New Yardbirds… I had a girlfriend when I was 15 that told me that she had her first orgasm listening to this band, so of course I bought all of their albums and walked around with the fallen angel tshirt till it was so torn up that my mother used it as a rag for polishing furniture. But, no matter how many times I spun this album, I didn’t orgasm.
Led Zeppelin…

I for one am relieved to know a Zeppelin album did not cause you to ejaculate.
