Before Bill Monroe invented bluegrass and Lefty Frizzell invented honky tonk there was Old Time Music.

Nobody does Old Time Music better than the Cox Family:

Whenever I hear the Cox Family I’m reminded of all the similar bands that used to play at the Flemington Fox Hunt, held annually each fall in the old Flemington School.

Today it’s a spot for ghost hunters.

All the ghosts there are friendly, if any there be.

The dancers have all gone home.

Mine's on the way.

PS: glad you were right abut them finally putting out a TOOM bootleg series.
I am as well, love to hears your thoughts on it. I have only gotten through 3 discs, I am giving. It the slow savor. Probably going to re-listen before delving into the live stuff. The Tell Tale Signs stuff is ingrained in my DNA, but I never owed a proper copy and look forward the that after assimilating the rest😊

Have you been growin' something other than tobacco out behind your barn Cosmic?
As a young teen, hanging out at music stores on the weekends was my vice. Hargets Music was next door to my dad’s main store, and I had a crush on his daughter. So I was always in there, either buying records, drum parts, or talking to his daughter. Hundreds of albums, drum sticks, and cymbals, and she never would go out with me… but, she was also five or six years older than me.
There were a few albums I bought, where Mr Harget would call my dad, and he would know what I had bought by the time I got home. Never got in trouble, just a raised eyebrow. And, Mr Harget never let me buy a Cheech and Chong album, ha ha. When I did finally listen to one, it was so stupid that I was grateful, ha ha.

This is relatively new album in my collection, like ten years or so ago. I walked into a small used record shop in downtown BHam, one of those that you have to find… back alley stairwell up two flights of stairs type places. They had these record players you could test out the records. Usually I just used the players to check a few places for skips and scratches. I found this one and put it on, and ended up listening to the whole thing, both disks. It is a Jimi Hendrix that you know only from the albums. Electric Ladyland. Not perfect, not well done, but magical in blood, sweat, and a raw grind of… guitar voodoo.

A favorite of mine, and one of the greats - Randy Newman View attachment 201906
I need to get some Randy Newman on vinyl. Of course this reminds me that I don’t have any Dr John on vinyl either. I used to get those two guys confused all the time… for some reason. Some of their songs, remind me of the other.

There is a misunderstanding. This is my Grand Funk album that I've had for decades. What did I say that Made you think that I am not familiar?
I posted E Pluribus Funk last week, and I also have the Black album and a Greatest Hits. My garage band in high school played Locomotion. While I don't have a favorite band or even genre of music... I am familiar with the albums I own. I am just posting when I spin one from time to time. Check out the pictures.
I didn’t think you were unfamiliar, that Homer Simpson quote has always cracked me up. Your posts just reminded me of the quote (from the episode Homerpalooza).

In light of the passing of Burt Bachrach this week I have been listening to the great "Painted From Memory" album he made with Elvis Costello of songs written together. Beautiful and thoughtful music for adult people.

Also, several times I listened to Aretha's version of " I say a little prayer For You" . Warwick's version is okay but Aretha has so much soul and emotion.
