Chicago
"Huey" had one of the best live bands in Chicago in the late 60s, with way too short of a career. My Greek fraternity, The Sons of Pericles, hired him for our dances quite a few times. My favorite memory is of the time we booked him to play for a dance at our church. The expression on our priest's face when he came into the auditorium and saw a 450-pound guy, in a neon-bright Dashiki and full-blown Afro, belting out "A Change is Gonna Come" was just hilarious. I thought, for sure, that Father's hair would go up in flames. He gave me a look that could've cook food, turned about and walked back up to his office, shaking his head in disbelief.

that's awesome. It's so sad that the guy never got to live long enough to go further. It's one of the rare cases of what might have been being almost certainly pretty great.

I'm not a fan of Reginald Dwight; however, I do like this song, and this particaular version, as it shows off his virtuosity:

Saw him live almost a year ago. I was pretty pessimistic about what the quality would be with his voice and age and all and with one exception in the production, it was incredible and had I had high expectations it would have exceeded them. 96641E9A-077E-4FE9-A48D-CF9405795C07_1_201_a.jpeg
