I picked up this Cedric Burnside album a few weeks ago, “I Be Trying.” Excellent blues. Recorded here in Alabama. He has a excellent style, very identifiable.
Lucked into Dead and Co Cornell '23 tickets so getting a little excited.
Pine Hill Haints, an awesome Alabama band. Check ‘em out.
Giving my laptop's mp3 player a Sabbath rest today. Been binging on modal era Miles Davis all day (vinyl), everything from E.S.P. (1965) right up through Filles De Kilimanjaro (1968). Might as well put on In A Silent Way (1969) and continue on into electric era, so long as wifey doesn't mind some trippy acid jazz this afternoon...

That is one of the best albums from that era of rock music. I think Triumph was very under rated, "Fight The Good Fight" is classic.

Rolling Stones, Metamorphosis, 1975 compiled release of songs recorded from 65-70.
I just don’t understand the folks that choose between the Stones and Beatles, apples and oranges to me. The Stones were blues based rock and roll, and the Beatles were a short lived pop band. It’s ok to like both.

That's cool! We've been to the Birchmere many times, a great place to see an act like this up close and personal. Our last show there was to see John Prine.
Cedrick is the Grandson of the late R.L. Burnside, one of the creators of the hill country blues sound. Cedrick played drums for R.L. for many years as well. He grew up in Holly Springs Mississippi the Mecca of hill country blues, he has also played with the North Mississippi Allstars (Luther & Cody Dickinson) along with his Uncle Duwayne Burnside. Both the Burnsides and Dickinson families inextricably linked by hill country blues and are both blues aristocracy. If you like Cedrick check out the North Mississippi Allstars. Luther the elder DIckinson brother was also the Guitar player for the Black Crows during Marc Ford's absence.
