Savinelli uses a lacquer? type coating on a lot of their pipes I think, and some fade rather quickly. My Oceana pipe finish faded in most places after a few smokes, leaving brush-stroke shiny places behind in some parts. I stripped it off altogether and coated it with my own carnauba. Yours might be doing the same.

how long does the carnauba coating last? And how do you polish the pipe?

My rossi (made my savinelli) did that. I eventually wiped all the finish off with isopropyl alcohol, and leave it matte. Still smokes wonderfully. If I can find pics I'll post some.
Italian drugstore Grabow quality sold at high prices

the finish is garbage and improperly cured. That’s why the steam from your smoke is removing it.
the shitty lacquer is coming off.

I’ve never had a pipe do that. I’d definitely be disappointed to say the least after a day of use.
To be honest, i am fairly disappointed. What makes it even worse is I bought it straight through the savinelli website. You would expect that coming from the main source wouldn’t have such defects. And let us not talk about the price...

I have quite a few Savs, most bought new, and have never run into this. Any charring was gradual and entirely my fault, and nothing major. No harm done yet that I can see on your pipe, but watch the flame on lights. Spit is often recommended as a char remover by Forums members.

I did the spit method and it seems to only work for a few seconds, until it goes back to this state. Never heard of this problem anywhere, and some people are telling me it is a “waxing” problem. I’ll contact Savinelli first thing in the morning tomorrow.
