My biggest issue with both of the brand’s is there business model and marketing scam. Over the years I have had one Gurkha that I would call good, the rest were mediocre at best and none of em were worth more than $4 Tops. RP has several blends that I like and used to smoke regularly, but then Nish took over the marketing aspect of the company, in my opinion he is such a D-bag that I won’t give them my business anymore. There’s literally hundreds of cigars that are generally much better.
As for the bands, I always remove it before I light up, I just can’t bring myself to light one with a band on it. That’s my preference, smoke yours however You see fit.
I can’t remember the last time I damaged a wrapper, just takes practice. You can hold your thumb on the seam for a minute and it will soften the glue.
I generally agree with your views. It seems that both RP and Gurkha have a hundred different lines of cigars. In the past, I used to smoke RP vintage series and found them favorable. They had a unique taste that I enjoyed. I've picked up a few 5 packs over the last few years and to me at least, quality seems to be down. I've had more than a few that were packed very loosely. I'm not sure I will purchase again. The same applies to Gurkha. I picked up a 5 pack of the Gurkha Beauty recently. I've tried two different times to smoke one and have had to put them both down after only a short time. I do enjoy the Gurkha Regents when I can get a box of 20 for $60. For $3 a stick, they taste pretty good and quality has been pretty consistent. They are not mind blowing but they fit the bill for an everyday cigar that does not break the bank. JMHO.

Where do ya'll mainly purchase your cigars? I appreciate the feedback on RP and Gurkha, and it occurs to me I see a lot of cigars here I don't find on Cigarbid. I'm still very new, and so limited to my personal exposure.
I mainly check the Cigars International "Joe's Daily Deal" and the Cigar.com daily deal. Every day is a new deal with free shipping. It's a good way for me to stock a humidor. Right now, all my humidors are stocked and I really don't need more cigars (or pipe tobacco).

I found Cigarbid to be a very dangerous site for someone who does not need to spend more money on tobacco.

Just checking prices, Katie, honest! I spend some time on Cigar Auctioneer (run by Famous Smoke). Much better customer service, greats deals if you're lucky, and a wide selection. I just topped off the coolerdor there with a few boxes. Some of their prices can't be beat anyone I can find online.

Cigar Page, Famous, Cigar Federation, Fox, Underground, Smoker’s Abbey, & Smoking pipes. it just depends on what I’m looking for.

Adding to the list SmokingPipes just had a 20%off sale, some hard to find boutique brands pop up on Watch City. I'll buy from Small Batch in California as well but wait for sales. Then if you are a bargain shopper the Cbid and auction sites.

I probably shouldn't buy anymore but when restocking favorites new brands land in the cart sometimes.
