I might rewatch that. Just finished the last chapter of Endeavour 5/5 -Britbox or PBS Passport.
Watching “Endeavor” got me back into watching “Morse” which I used to watch a lot back in the day. Both are good - but I honestly can’t make the leap from the prequel characterization and context to the later “version”.

Last night I watched another PBS America cracker about a guy called Horatio Nelson Jackson who was the first to cross the American continent in a motor car in 1903 for a $50 bet. When you consider the state of the roads back then, it was one heck of an achievement.

It's almost like a travel diary from setting off in California to arriving to a ticker tape welcome in New York.

A Ken Burns film with Tom Hanks doing the voice over, this is an excellent snippet of US history.

A rock solid 5/5

Regards,

Jay.

Brilliant catch! I tried to watch it last night and went through hoops, but straightened it out this morning, now PBS here seems to acknowledge I am a paid up member, and no longer thinks I watch LA PBS stations.

But a lovely side effect: I watched instead The Lincoln Highway which tried to be the first coast to coast 'road', a decade or so after Horatio. 4/5.

PS the link you supplied may work in UK- dunno, it told me video not available!

Last night's fare on PBS America was the fascinating story of the St. Francis Dam flood in California in 1928 called 'Flood in the Desert.

"Just before midnight on March 12, 1928, about 40 miles north of Los Angeles, one of the biggest dams in the country blew apart, releasing a wall of water 20 stories high. Ten thousand people lived downstream. Flood in the Desert tells the story of the St. Francis Dam disaster, which not only destroyed hundreds of lives and millions of dollars’ worth of property".

Another well deserved 5/5.

Jay.

John, over here we get 'live' broadcasts from 8am-2am. It's also available here as catch up via streaming. Both are free as far as I can tell. Generally if I miss a prog I can find it on their catch up service which is where I'll look tonight for the Lincoln Highway you mention.

There are many repeats of mostly WWII documentaries but oftentimes they put out excellent 'one off' documentaries such as the above road trip and flood films.

I've also enjoyed their progs about the Brooklyn Bridge, Plague at the Golden Gate, History of the Polygraph and a wonderful 3 part film about Juan Trippe and the history of Pan-Am called Across the Pacific.

Each of those I would rate 5/5.

Regards,

Jay.

Watching Fallguy on Prime, good fun show from my childhood, full of famous cameos if actors playing themselves and talking about their tv shows and movies oh and hot women as well as a lot of casting old Hollywood stuntmen in small random rolls. 5/5 just for the nostalgia alone.

Love the theme song calling out doing Burt Reynolds' stunts because it's a bit tongue in cheek as Burt started out a stunt man and did a lot of his own stunts including driving the Bandit in Smokey and the Bandit and "I'm not the kind to kiss and tell but I've been seen with Farrah.." as he was married to Farrah at the time.

I think it's safe to say that Heather Thomas could be the worst "actress" in the history of ... history, that's how bad she was, I would hazard a guess to say that she was a product of the casting couch in one form or another. She had an amazing body but even her voice was that deep gravely sound that makes you want to hit the mute buttons as soon as you see her lips moving. If she was that age today she would be on only fans and that other site and making 50 million bucks a yr taking pictures of herself, no voice required.

I'll be back to edit this in 8.5 hours.

Star Trek-Strange New Worlds. Definitely a 5/5! Good stories, acting, and creativity. Very nice that characters not fully developed in the original series are brought tomthe front in this. Rather than be all action, relying heavily on visuals, the writers have taken the time to get to the "human" level. Very refreshing change over Discovery.

OMG! They have started streaming Northern Exposure. Season one is available for purchase on Amazon. I assume other seasons will follow.
I will be buying them all.
That's GREAT news! Northern Exposure is one of my all time favorite series. Great absurdist humor, faultless performances, perfect in every way. I bought the whole series on DVD years and years ago because it wasn't available on the air. It's a classic in the same vein as Doc Martin, an absurdly perfect ensemble of strangely lovable characters.
