Just started watching The Meg, they have a much nicer deepwater sub than the Titanic tours company, still trying to figure out how Jason Stathem beats the Meg's ass using martial arts and outdrives it, but we'll see, maybe Dwight will "beet" it to death =D

I ended up making it about half way before i lost interest in this "one catastrophe after another" "thriller". Not my cup of tea. 2/5 stars.

For my first ever Blu-ray discs, my neighbour has loaned me something called 'Gravity' with Sandra Bullock and a triple set called 'The Dark Knight Trilogy' which I think is a Batman film.

Any thoughts on either of these films? Am I going to enjoy my first ever BD experience?

Regards,

Jay.
I dislike comic book movies, but in BluRay, they should be visually entertaining (and even better, if you have a decent A/V sound system.

Gravity - I think you will enjoy the tense tale. And visually, in BluRay,spectacular

Jay- Do you not have HD and UHD streaming in England?
Not sure John, we certainly have streaming but not sure if in HD or UHD. I certainly wouldn't sign up for a subscription service as I so rarely watch films.

Al, I'm currently using a Yamaha RX-V1400 that is capable of 7:1 but only wired for stereo with centre speaker at the moment. I also have an Aventage A3060 capable of up to 11:2 but it's still in its box.

Regards,

Jay.

Well my first Blu-ray experience failed when 'Gravity' refused to go past the start screen.

So instead last night I tried the first of the Batman trilogy 'Batman Begins'.

Well what can I say? It really was a hoot with (totally expected) utterly ridiculous scenarios and laughable fight stunts....not to mention Batman's plastic muscle body suit. As for the new Batmobile, I only have vague memories of the big black thing I saw as a kid in the 70's, the new version it was hard to tell the front from the back!

As for Blu-ray being the dog's dangly bits, I was rather unimpressed to be honest.

For sheer audacity & daftness I'll be generous and give it 3/5.

Will I watch the other 2 in the set? Nah, probably not.

Regards,

Jay.

PS: The actor who played Batman I've seen before in something but forget what. I seem to recall whatever it was I actually enjoyed.
