Enjoyed my first bowl of Amphora Burley blend, looking forward to future bowls - great mixture so far.
Following up with a bowl of Storm Front, which has me craving a cup of instant coffee, black with no sugar for some reason - goes well, not that I drink instant coffee much nowadays.

Will have to venture more into the 'codger' blends on my next order, I think I'll be fan of Burley dominant blends.

In the afternoon, I visited with my Saturday ZOOM buddies.
Later in the afternoon and early evening, I attended an in-person meeting of our Chicago Pipe Club, at the Arlington Pipe and Cigar Lounge. I smoked my Peterson 2002 Pipe Of The Year, purchased for me by my wife, in the Grafton Street shop, during our visit to Ireland in 2002. I filled the bowl with 2015 McClelland's Samovar, and spent a few satisfying hours of camaraderie and smoke talk with club members and guests.

Samuel Gawith: 1792 Flake in a Meer...

@weezell I've smoked 1792 Flake in my clay pipes; I think Gawith tobacco is well suited to clay pipes. Another forum member says he can't imagine how much Gawith tobacco has been smoked in clay pipes over the years!!!

Enjoyed a tasty Envy apple, and am a quarter of the way through this bowl of Wilke No. 72 in an undated straight, smooth light brown unbranded short shank Bing-ish lumberman with a long, tapered black vulcanite stem. Listening to The Jack Benny Program from my own collection as I work.

A couple of years ago, I visited the city of Bamberg, in Bavaria, Germany. There, I found Weinig Tobacco House that makes also "own" pipe blends and cigars e.t.c. . I tried "Peter Weinig No. 7" Mix and I liked it very much (previous posts here and here), so I reordered this and also No. 33, a lighter tobacco which has the following description:
"A classic from the 80s was the model for house mix 33, the legendary Kong Christian. A fine caramel aroma is the basis. Different cutting widths result in a cool smoking pleasure. This classic is available in a 100g can, but also in a 50g pouch pack."
It is what I am smoking now in my gigantic Schrauf's pipe, which comes also from Bavaria, Germany. The Schrauf's Pipe and Tobacco house is in the city of Nuremberg , not far from Bamberg.
May you all have a nice Sunday good people.

Three bowls today.
First Frog Morton On The Town, then a home blend of "Revelation", finally an experiment blending Proper English and Frosty Mint.

FMOTT is decently sweet and smokey in the first half and drops the sweetness in the second half.

"Revelation" is supposed to be Einstein's go to blend, it's a "Kitchen Sink" sort of idea. My take on Revelation is equal parts Virginia Flake (diced), Cube Cut Burley, Kentucky, and Latakia, plus a bit of Mature Red VA and Perique.
Somehow this blend tastes mostly nutty and salty, probably because I just blended it yesterday, the fruity side of the VA and Perique should show up in a few months.

2:1 Proper English with Frosty Mint was very good. The mint was still overpowering for the first third, but after that the savory smokiness steadily took over.
Even though I feel like both blends were well represented I'm probably going to up the quantity of Proper English so that the start is a little less monotonous.
