Late afternoon bowl of Wilke Vermont Maple in a Savinelli Autograph straight grain bent Dublin. Gets the spousal "seal of approval" - after the "that smells disgusting" appraisal levied earlier on an innocent bowl of Wilke Lizzie Blood Red English (actually, anything with Latakia earns ire).

CVP in an Altinay. I had some scraps of Vauen No 14 left that I finished filling up the bowl with. Waste not want not. LOL

@hoosierpipeguy Waste not want not; I can agree with you! When I went to the Cavendish's Horses event at Bolsover Castle I found enough pipe baccy that the re-enactor playing William Cavendish had tipped out of his antique silver tobacco pipe to fill my small English Civil War clay pipe - so I got to try his Virginia tobacco after all!

Newminster in a clay pipe.
After not smoking anything yesterday it went down well!
Washed it down with a third full bottle of Prosecco I acquired - waste not want not:)
I can smoke a cigarette in one drag:)
Going to cellar my pipe baccy during Stoptober; it should be well aged by the time re-enactment starts again!
Going swimming today and looking forward to going to Buxton Crescent next month!
Will take a reusable water bottle and fill it up from the drinking fountain:)
Not smoking anything next month!

It should be said that the hole and the slot in the button ran side by side almost from the beginning of briar pipe production and it's not the case that the slot only came into being quite late from circa 1910.

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, steel head trout and asparagus dinner with a couple of bites of chocolate cake and French vanilla ice cream for dessert. I'm almost half way through this bowl of year 2016 Peter Heinrichs Dark Strong Kentucky in an undated Family Era Sasieni Natural Four Dot Grosvenor smooth medium brown quarter bend bulldog with a black tapered vulcanite stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Watching the Braves-Padres game.

Ashton Gold Rush in a Savinelli Miele 611 KS bent dublin. Dried it 10 minutes, made a small cup of afternoon coffee, packed it real loose...simply heavenly. Bird report: California scrub-jay, Steller's jay, House finch, White-breasted nuthatch, Northern flicker, and Dark-eyed junco. Last warm-ish day before the autumnal chill sets in...can't wait!

Edit: ...and California towhee.

Just that orific (round hole) bits were phased out sometime in the 1920s, so we can date pipes with orific bits to the pre-'30s
