Just popped an aged rectangular tin of Petersons Irish Flake, I'm smoking in a Peterson Donegal bent B10 Calabash, ballasted with a roast chicken drums dinner with roast potatoes and chard with raisins and embellishments, and a stout red wine. Nice full strength blend mellowed a bit with age. This is the first all Peterson pairing, pipe and blend, in a long time. The rectangular tin remained sealed with the blend moist and in prime shape.

Early-mid 20th Cent. with shank stamped S. McL within a triangle and BAVARIA (Samuel McLardy 1869-1930) still with a screw tenon but the style and shape of the mouthpiece places it near the business's end date + G. L. Pease CHELSEA MORNING:-

A major players in the clay pipe business with basic undecorated clays stamped McLARDY's DUBLIN on the back of the bowls and later S. McLARDY on one side of the shank and MANCHESTER on the other as well as higher end registered designs in a meerschaum wash with cream coloured glaze giving the pipe the look of a more expensive meerschaum.

Anyway, a couple of better quality S. McL briars - both from 1903:-
