How is that blend?
After one bowl, it’s not bad, but I don’t know if I like it enough to order more. It‘s almost too heavily cased/topped for my liking and a few times during the bowl did cross the line. It’s not heavily flavored, but in straight virginias, I prefer a lighter touch. I’m going to play around with the drying time and try it in some different pipes to see if it improves. Again, not bad, but there are plenty of other virginias I’d rather smoke.

The second smoke in a new Savinelli Trevi Rusticated (320) (6mm), I received yesterday.

The first smoke yesterday was with a Savinelli balsa filter. Today I’m trying out Vauen’s charcoal filters. The Vauen creates a tighter draw, which is to much, and the charcoal does appear to mute the flavors.

I certainly don’t want to mute the flavors. I’m going to have to get a hold of some White Elephant Meerschaum filters asap, these aren’t suppose to mute.

Having in the pipe some Golden Sliced…

Be well everyone! 🤙 ❤️

Ok I made a boo boo, I pushed the Vauen filter in all the way, and that is why the draw was to tight. I realize now, if you push a filter all the way into the stems until it stops, you’re going to make the draw more restricted.

I took out the Vauen charcoal filter, and put in a Savinelli balsa for comparison, the charcoal does mute a little more, but it wasn’t an extreme amount. Maybe best not to dry out tobacco as much, to hopefully not lose as much flavors with the charcoal, and still have an enjoyable smoke. 🤔

The Orlik Golden Sliced flakes don’t need any dry time, but I let them dry out over a hour. I’ll just rub them out next time, and straight into the chamber with the Vauen charcoal filter next time to see how it tastes…
