Enjoyed a tasty Snap Dragon apple, and am half way through this bowl of year 2013 Rotary Navy Cut in a post-1938 Pre-Republic Peterson Dublin straight smooth X155 bulldog with a sterling silver band and a tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem. Nigel Bruce smoked this model in two Sherlock Holmes movies. Please consider asking Smoking Pipes to bring back this model. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Close to finishing this bowl of year 2012 Rolando’s Own in a smooth straight early ‘60s Lane era “William Conrad” Charatan Executive Extra Large stretch apple with diagonal channel cuts on the lower right and left of the bowl along with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem. Snacking follows this smoke.

IMG_3787.jpegCracked a tin of GLP Temple Bar from 2020 and had to pull out the magnifying glass to check those white streaks. Sparkly under the light so all good! Smells good and funky. I think it's the layering of the cake with whole leaves that leads to streaking, because the higher sugar content of the bright Virginia causes sugar crystals to appear only where that particular leaf is present in the layer. (?) Anyway...

This is a pretty innocuous blend as far as I'm concerned. Not particularly sweet, or sour, or interesting either. Veeeeery mild perique. Oh well. Into a jar for this one. Maybe the problem is I've been smoking WCC Simply VOriental, and KBV Goblin City lately, both of which contain Prilep. Whatever varietals are in the Temple Bar just aren't offering that funk that I was craving. This tasted like a Virginia blend with some light condiments. Of course, straight out of the tin, initial impressions can be very deceiving, and I've only had one sample of this so please disregard this post and carry on.

Smoked in my "Scottie".

A third of a bowl left of Uhle's Blend 71 in a smooth straight brown family era Sasieni Mayfair 64 N Canadian with a black tapered vulcanite stem. Shy Stripesy was sitting on my door mat waiting for me. As soon as she saw me through the glass window, she ran under the deck. I left food, and she returned to eat. It's been a while since I have seen her. I figure the new ferals have made her more reluctant. It's not much of a photo, but I was lucky to get it.

Passing the quarter mark on this bowl of Wilke No. 515 Double Shot in a smooth dark medium bend 2021 Peterson Heritage Brown POTY 4AB No. 45/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. This is No. 515 with twice the rum of the Basil Rathbone blend. Appropriately watching Sherlock Holmes and the Secret Weapon starring Rathbone and Bruce on FMC. Didn't know this channel existed until a few days ago.

It's a pretty chilly autumn evening here in Minnesota, so I figured I'd load up the early 2000's Lane era Dr. Grabow Lark with some Cornell & Diehl Autumn Evening!

I've been smoking this Dr. Grabow once a day since I picked it up new and still sealed in the original package on eBay about 3 weeks ago, and I was really surprised by what a wonderful little smoker it is! The stem material feels a bit cheaper than Savinelli's acrylic or Peterson's vulcanite, but it's still pleasant to clench and for a pipe less than half the price of a Savinelli or Peterson I really can't complain at all. I've been smoking it without a filter and the draw is a little looser than my Savinellis or Petersons, but that's easily remedied just by packing the tobacco a little more tightly than usual in the bowl until the draw feels right or—as I just discovered—putting a Savinelli 6mm adapter in it.

All in all it's just a great little pipe that's quickly become one of my favorites to smoke, and I think I may have to pick up a couple modern current production Dr. Grabows to see if they smoke as well as this one. The Royalton line looks especially snazzy!puffy

Escudo in a pipe I never should have bought, but did; should have returned, but didn't; shouldn't have smoked, but did, should have been extra careful with, but wasn't. I break it out every so often to see if I've conquered my annoyance with myself yet. I haven't.

Jim, if you encounter this post: I couldn't find any other pictures of Sante - sorry to disappoint.

Raking through all the images in my computer I did come across this one, though, of my two girls on the first day of school in 2005, so the effort wasn't entirely wasted. All together now, say it with me: awwwww!
