It was pure gamesmanship, and nothing else. Buck knew durn well that Musgrove wasn't doctoring the ball. He could look at the balls and see nothing was applied to them. I've seen Buck do this before, and while it was good theater or the fans, I feel in this case it was poor sportsmanship, and Buck looked like a sore loser. Not good for the sport or the Mets franchise. Judging by today's responses on the radio, Mets fans weren't happy about it either.Buck had to check on him doctoring the ball. If he didn’t then he wasn’t doing his due diligence as a manager. Spin rate up and constantly touching his shiny ears? Might as well check.
