A third of the way through this bowl of Wilke Surbrug’s Crystal Palace in a dark brown smooth straight post-WW2 LHS Certified Purex 79 bulldog with a nickel ferrule and tenon with a black vulcanite saddle stem. I messed up my last post because I was smoking Watch City Blue Ridge. That particular LHS bulldog is dedicated to that blend. Crystal Palace is dedicated to the pipe you are seeing.

The next pipe is a handsome GBD straight billiard with French hallmarks - a diamond and a boar’s head.
No date letter but a vulcanite stem with orific bit.
So pre-mid 1920s

A bowl of cube-cut Sam Gawith’s St. James Flake

The French hallmarks are very complicated and seldom had a date letter, the boars head is a silver guarantee mark and the diamond a maker’s mark. The guarantee marks and were often in the form of animal and insects or the heads of gods like Minerva and Mercury, your boars head just means it was made for the domestic market and post 1838. I’m still learning about them as it’s vastly different from British silver.
Hope that helps, sorry if I’m telling you something you already knew.

Germain’s Royal Jersey Dark Cavendish in a Radice Clear Bent Dublin with Baldo Baldi briar aged over 20 years.

Having a bottle of New Belgium Honey Orange Tripel to go along with it. 😋

Hope everyone is doing good, and having a nice weekend! ❤️

Off now to go watch a movie on Hulu. 🎥 🍿

What do you make of that blend? I’ve had most Germain’s but not that one and have long been curious.

It’s actually sunny here today after weeks of rain wind and stormy weather. Took WeeBay out with some Kramer’s New Mix in the Civic Zulu and now I’m gonna have another much needed coffee and some Murray’s Erinmore in the small billiard from the Kaywoodie matched grain set. A good friend gave me a couple of tins of this yesterday, it’s delicious, rich and sweet. image.jpg

I had to do a double-take there. That picture reminded me of Portland Bill in England:

Not a place to try and light a pipe...
That sounds great. Sometimes I don't have time to post the photo of the tobacco with a pipe, and I look in my folders of photo archives. I love the lighthouses on the cliffs, and those spectacular sea areas.
