I've been very busy (a lot lately), and haven't had the chance to post my earlier smokes. I'm off to work with a bowl of year 2020 D&R VIP in a 2004 smooth long shank Trever Talbot Ligne Bretagne Faite en Bretagne 4/3 lumberman with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink.

1792 flake in a Big Ben Barbados.

I heard P&C were giving them away several years ago. With all the fills, I can't blame them. However, it grows on me the more I smoke it.

It's a compelling shape for many makers, I have to admit it appeals to me but I think I'll wait until my sense of novelty wears down before I act on anything. Bones, Briarworks, and several others have had me taking second looks, as does yours. Glad to hear it's a good smoker, but that doesn't make my restraint easier.

How did that go?
It was good...the first few minutes in the smoke, I got some harshness from the Burleys that i don't recall from a fresh smoke, but then it calmed down after about 10 minutes and produced some good nutty burley (I got around 1 hrs 45 minutes out of this bowl). I really like this blend. I'll give it a go fresh tomorrow to verify on those harsh notes. The harshness may have been from my cadence being too quick at first.

^ thanks!
I'm a fan as well, but have never dried it. I'll give it a try next tin.

Do you have a clear Burley flake series favorite? I'm kinda tied between 1 and 2.

I also really like #1 and #2. I don't think I could pick a favorite between those two. I'm going to have to pick up some more of those blends when the Christmas sales come up soon. Too bad they're not offered in bulk!

Out of curiosity, do you prefer Backwoods Bastard or the younger, less fortified son Dirty Bastard? Both are solid Scotch ales, but I lean towards Dirty.

There's a French Toast Bastard too, but that bastard is elusive.
