Looks like I'm on a roll. Just smoked my Ropp J05, which is dedicated totally to Orientals, and again broke my pattern. Don't usually smoke this genre in the afternoons. BUT, again like this morning, broke the pattern, and did a loose 2 pack of Steamworks, figuring I'd get 30 minutes max. Listened to Beethoven Symphony #8, which I have a special fondness for, because it was the first Beethoven symphony I conducted in public from memory. Orchestra was in no panic because I'd rehearsed without the score and they were used to it. None of us like surprises in the profession.
So, what did I learn from the smoke? Plenty. The symphony lasts about 28 minutes in performance. Not only did I get through it but I listened to the last movement twice. So a loose 2 pack in this wonderful pipe gives a great smoke which will get me listening through any classical symphony ever written that I'm aware of (pre-Haydn, Haydn, Mozart) with plenty of time to spare. ) Pipe dedication is a real boon to good smokes. And, Steamworks is one of the most varied, and incredible tobaccos I've ever had the pleasure of smoking. Good things come in 3's.
Can hardly wait till evening when I'll be trying Steamworks in my completely broken in Meer. I've already smoked Sunday Picnic with incredible variety in taste and quality in the meer. Downside is I only have 1 1/2 cans of Steamworks so it'll have to be a rare treat. Thankful for the results in the much smaller (but equally adept) Ropp. And also thankful for the great listening Renaissance! Enjoying it thoroughly. No Berlioz though . . . . . . I do have some biases!
