I'm nearly finishing my first ever smoke of C&D's Gentleman Caller which is also my first ever smoke of a blend containing deer tongue. It is my second smoke in the new Ser Jacopo which I was planning on designating to C&D's Miskatonic (also a brand new blend for me). I'll probably still do that but I wanted to have another smoke in it since it performed so well for me yesterday. I've long been intrigued by deer tongue and upon finally trying it after all these years I find it quite interesting indeed. I believe I'll be ordering more Gentleman Caller. I understand it can ghost a pipe so I'll have to find another for this blend as this pipe and Miskatonic were a perfect match.1000000850.jpg

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, chicken legs and sugar snap peas dinner with strawberries for dessert. I'm half way through this bowl of year 2002 Reiner Long Golden Flake in a smooth dark brown quarter bend 1950s Comoy’s Blue Riband 187 yachtsman with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. Fed all the ferals except for the snoozin' Harry the Hairy. Abner the Eager has been on top of my chair most of this evening.

5.1.25 afternoon rain clouds developing.jpg

With storm clouds gathering, I went out to the workroom to enjoy the first bowl of May, Peterson DeLuxe Navy Rolls in a Foyard Rhodesian. No sooner had I finished the charring light, the hail began...

Not huge, obviously, but with rain and a cold wind keeping it company, let's just say I'm glad the Foyard's chamber is on the small side. We're at about the two and a half hour mark, and this storm is showing no signs of letting up. Of course, the word "shelter" is just not in some people's vocabulary...

Bird report: House finch, California towhee, California scrub-jay, California quail, Steller's jay, American crow, Red-tailed hawk, Mountain chickadee, Western bluebird, Spotted towhee, White-breasted nuthatch, Mourning dove, and Northern flicker.

That's a way of life for some people! No one on here, of course... :ROFLMAO:

Welcome to May 🌷

I've been saving cigar clippings again, and mixed them into 1 year aged Winchester at about 4 parts Winchester to 1 part cigar. It's quite good

In a Nording Woodcock.

The Danish Pipe Shop just released this year's Hunting Pipe. They also say it will be the last:
"Please not the [sic] that since Erik Nørding is closing down his large scale production here in 2025, this will be the last Hunting Pipe"
