A quarter of the way through this bowl of year 2024 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. Fed Sleepy Suzy and Molly Danger. When they finish eating, I'll check on the ferals. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Stole the photo from Smoking Pipes because I couldn't get the color right when I tried to photograph it.

Yeah, jimi, been there and done that. Still working on it. Getting there. Stuff looks great off my Canon Pixma printer, but each site has it's color and density quirks. Looks like the pipe was photographed with a softbox - don't have room in my LR for that, yet. Coming.

And what a BEAUTIFUL PIPE! And pipes is really what it's all about, eh?

Trouble getting sleepy, so I guess I fibbed. One more bowl, this time about to smoke some 2021 C&D Chopped Cigar Leaf in a small BriarWorks sandblasted, straight brandy with saddle stem and wood accent.

You didn't fib at all . . . you made a better decision on the spot, and that's okay. :)

Ever have one of those pleasant surprises and the name does not match the taste. I decided to try a tin I have been avoiding. “Black Frigate”. Being Latakia forward it sounded like it was going to be so strong that only pirates could handle it. Upon opening the tin note reminded me of heavy peated Islay Ardbeg 10. Bandaids and medicine. My fears raised a notch. But dang it’s mild and sweet and I can pick up notes of the rum (slightly). What a pleasant smoke perfect for an after dinner treat.View attachment 393348

Yes, it's a wonderful tobacco, and not nearly as lat forward as a lot of folks assume. It's a true navy, which almost always includes a sugar or molasses cured and cubed Virginia, which gives it a sweet and smoky taste. Englishes don't include this step, just lat.

At least that's what the sources I've checked out say. I find a lot of Englishes too lat heavy, to be frank, so I make my own from codgers, a few oriental leaves, and minimal lat. Works for me.

And BF smokes great, from beginning to end, with minimal falloff. It's bold without harshness, to my palate.

Friday evening I started a nice bowl of Tashkent in my Falcon meerschaum chimney bowl, but only got to smoke 1/4 of it before storms drove me inside. The weekend turned hectic, so I didn't get to finish the remaining 3/4 bowl until yesterday afternoon. Maybe it was abstaining from smoking all weekend, or the tobacco sitting and drying, but the smoke was exceptionally cool and tasty, much better than I remembered from Friday.

Afterward, I enjoyed a bundle cigar I'd purchased last month, an Odyssey Connecticut. I didn't expect much, since it was a bundle cigar and because I had to glue the wrapper after I clipped the head, but it turned out to be a nice, mild yet tasty stick. If I smoked more cigars, I'd be tempted to buy a bundle.

Did a set of walking reps on this beautiful day, and am not far from finishing this bowl of year 2016 D&R Three Sails in a slight bent black pattern etched 1977 Lorenzo Lorsan Sigma level top billiard with a gray swirl acrylic saddle stem. Tomato the Brave played hide and seek with me three times when I was near my house. He's a very happy fella.

Morning smoke was the last break-in with my Mr. Brog Nosewarmer, with Smoker's Pride Whiskey Tobacco. I'll let this pipe, and its co-current break-in partner my new Ropp J06, rest for a few days before loading them for final polishing with Borkum Riff Dark Cavendish.

A day pending of major housecleaning - getting there on a never ending quest. Probably a couple of cigars to tide me through tonight's picture editing - shot an ex-student and friend's Triduum Baptismal and First Communion, and have about 30 pictures to process for her and her hubby. Pipes won't fit the task. Tomorrow is Range Day, so will likely take a posting hiatus till Wednesday evening. Will check out some posts hopefully on an intermittent basis.

Have a great day.

Enjoyed a Jethro Bodine size bowl of Raisin Bran with extra raisins thrown in lunch with unsalted peanuts and a golden delicious apple on the side. I'm a quarter of the way through this bowl of year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Gold Star Jamaican Estate Reserve, neat, is my drink. Sleepy Suzy is by my side. Tomato the Brave is stretched out on the deck, snoozin' and smilin' with his mouth open. I'd go outside and take a photo of that, but he'd wake up and move.
