I think it’s comfortable. The stem is rounder and thicker than what I would typically think of as being a clencher, but the overall size of the bit is small so it still works for me. The pipe is only around 30g, so that helps too.How does this pipe clench? Love the look of them but don't trust the stem.
Cannot figure out what the purpose of the hole in the center of the deck of the wagon its for ? ?The Ropp J11P, now smoking what P&C sent me as “GH&Co Coniston Unscented” which I do not believe is correct.
They did offer to refund IF I dragged it to UPS (after I told them I’d do USPS if they provided a label), but I’m just gonna chalk it up to experience, smoke some and maybe send the balance to a friend in WA that can’t buy tobak on line.

These are great smokes!
The story was fascinating. I don't have any of these heritage pipes, but in '13 I bought a set of 309's .... a smooth & a donegal rocky. I sort of knew the long history of the 309 but didn't know they would be discontinued ('17 ?) -- too similar to the 338 & the 313 plus apparently sales of the 309 had gone down. I mainly bought mine because of this classic pic of Lee Van Cleef, although I've read that this may actually have been a Wellington. Regardless, I cherish owning my two 309's.Thank you. I have the entire set, and they arrived on my birthday. Most of them were presents from my friends, which makes them even more precious to me. If you or some others don't know the story behind them, here's a link that may be of interest.
