Running out of straight Virginias, so I mixed some Indian Summer with a good portion of Perique. That IS-blend excruciated me seriously with alkaline tongue bite when new and I set it apart for two years. Now the fruity topping has almost vanished and it’s almost dry, the Perique tamed it further. At least now it’s smokable in my small bowl no name “Old Briar” with nylon stem.

Jan 2018 Bengal Slices in a 2020 Peterson Oak Pub pipe.

I haven’t smoked this pipe recently, but it does smoke well and the drilling is not bad. One peeve is that the tapered tenon has casting marks on either side, and the fit is kinda wonky. Stem rocks back and forth. I put some mineral oil and 4F pumice on it and spun it in the mortise in order to better mate the fit. Now it fits very well. Some Petes require final finish work…

English Leftovers in a cob, I have about .5 oz left of this jar of accumulated English scraps from 2020, it has been my shed blend this spring. It's not bad, but I'm kind of happy to be nearing the end of it. Just finishing a happy honey dipper.

Good afternoon all. I’m taking advantage of an afternoon off, and enjoying this beautiful Carolina weather while deadheading and watering the flowers. A bowl of FVF in a cherished pipe gifted by a forum friend, and quite possibly a pour of bourbon, are on tap after the chores are completed.

I’m not sure what you mean by casting marks on the tenon. Can you post a photo?

What's your take on Saint Espresso?

I like it. The tin note is exceptional. It's rich and dark like an unsweetened espresso even though the tin note would make you think otherwise. Not sweet at all, kinda like that last bit of coffee with the fine grounds, but I like that about this blend. I think this will pair well with coffee in the morning. Definitely not like any other blend out there from my experience.

Ran a couple of errands with a bowl of Jim's Va/Bur in a smooth brown medium bend circa 1950s-60s Bertram 08 dublin with a tapered black stem.


Just finished my second set of walking reps, and a bowl of year 2015 D&R A.B. Rimboche in an undated slight bend, smooth flame grain Wessex Standard egg with a brown accent on the black vulcanite saddle stem. Lavazza Classico, neat, is my drink.

Thanks! Sounds like it’s going in the next order. I’m not actually a coffee drinker but I love the smell of fresh ground or fresh brewed coffee.
