After about 25 years I thought I'd revisit the first pipe tobacco I ever smoked: Mac Baren Navy Flake. Seems the cut is a bit finer and it's got less topping than I recall. Bites a little less too. Maybe. Smoking it in a GBD New Era. It was $5 ... Smokes great but the previous owner bit the button through.

Grasmere Flake after an excellent meal of spinach pie with an reasonable glass of French red, raw pineapple and salt for desert washed down with a glass of Cockburn's tawny port. My pipe for the evening is yet another silver banded meerschaum 'cutty' by BBB with hallmarks indicating the silver work was done in 1892. It has a replacement stem by Rik of Briarville done about three years ago and the pipe was a gift from a dear friend.
