Took a couple months off from my pipes/tobacco just to prove to myself I could and for lent. Even though Easter isn’t quite here I’ve allowed myself a single bowl each day for the past few days. Today it’s Old Dominion.

Joe approves. He’s sporting a sock around his neck to protect a wound he suffered from battling either the neighborhood stray or possibly the opossum that’s been hanging around.

It’s been a helluva winter this year and it’s not over yet with a winter storm warning for tonight.

Hey Clay King, what about using one jacket only for smoking your clay and get another one for just looking good,
@Backwoods Briar I'm going to keep the Redcoat until at least after the Nottingham pipe meet; I wouldn't feel right without it! Wouldn't want to smoke a clay pipe except at re-enactment events if I didn't have a Redcoat!

@simong Oliver Cromwell was known to smoke a pipe!
Famous painting of King Charles Insulted by Cromwell's Soldiers:
One of them is blowing clay pipe smoke in his face...
Portrait of Oliver Cromwell smoking a clay pipe:
Some civil war re-enactors portray both sides although the Royalists were more objecting to tobacco smoking; remember King James I's "Counterblaste to Tobacco".
I could imagine Sealed Knot members saying the smoking ban was "like the Counterblaste to Tobacco all over again"...
Cromwell the meddler, Cromwell the busybody, Cromwell the puritanical Jack!
Smashed up Hereford cathedral he did. Desicrated tombs and all sorts. Absolute shower!!
Clan smoker, I believe. Visited his lovely old house in Ely, near Cambridge. Garden was full of old tins of clan & broken clays. The old saying holds true now as it did then. Never trust a man who smokes clan!

@simong I've smoked Clan before; I think the Redcoats, Cavaliers and Roundheads would have been better putting their Clan in their guns instead of in their pipes:)
One of the re-enactors says you don't want a baccy that burns like gunpowder!

One of the Scottish Highlanders at the Bonnie Prince Charlie event at Swarkestone near Derby was smoking Clan in his clay pipe; I thought the tartan packet suited his outfit!
(this was before they became plastered with health warnings):)

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and am half way through this bowl of year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. The rather chocolatey Lavazza Perfetto, neat, is my drink.

Your reanactor mate sounds like a sensible chap. St. Bruno smoker I shouldn't wonder.
I think you can get a different sort of clan in Europe. Remember seeing packets emblazoned with a Gold Tartan over in Spain. Never tried it though, obviously.

@simong I think St Bruno is well suited to clay pipes. Going to see how long I can make a Jamestown full of St Bruno RR last!
