I like your tobacco caddy. The leather mat beneath makes sense for preparing tobacco.

Is there another indentation where the tobacco tin is?

Yup. I use the Neerup leather mat for preparing my tobacco. Beneath the tin is space for tobacco, ash or whatever I want to use it for. See here:

I used La Belle Epoch Deoxidizer. It was originally formulated to restore the rubber in fountain pens.

You can purchase it here.

I wrote about using it here. It's messy, but, works very well. I found using sanding pads too tiring.

Hi everyone, started the day with Joshis Oriental Sunrise in the Blakemar Aristocrat that can double as a judge’s gavel, great smoker too. Now finishing up some Charatan Flake in the Longchamp Bulldog.
Heading to my sisters for Sunday lunch and picking out a couple of blends to take along, I’m thinking Lancer’s Slices for before and C&D Hearthside for dessert. I’ll be taking my traviln’ cobs including the Old Dominion in front.
