I’m glad I wasn’t the pipe maker drilling THAT draft hole 😂
I've often marveled at this myself. As a woodworker the skill and fore-thought is not lost on me. :)

Time to load one more before heading out to catch some starshine.
Since recently finding a source to restock my dwindling supply of Semois, I am once again actively smoking this favorite burley relative. Today it goes for a test run in the Savinelli Autograph (which i've found handles ribbons much better than flakes, due to the narrow bowl walls on the panelled sides).

As a fellow-woodworker, I agree! I’ve tried a few times to practice draft-hole and bowl drilling on cheap blanks, and quickly realized that it’s MUCH harder than it looks, and my children are too young for me to have enough free time to devote to practicing more.

Did a set of walking reps in the high heat and humidity, and am close to finishing this bowl of year 2016 D&R Three Sails in an undated straight brush etched black Molina apple with a nickel band and a tapered black vulcanite stem. Just put Sam the Scamp outside. :( One good piece of news is that Abner the Eager was waiting me when I finished my walks, and he's inside eating his ever loving heart out. His leg seems to be okay now.

Sutliff Mark Twain 150 in a Missouri Meerschaum Missouri Pride. I followed that with Sutliff Maple Walnut in a Missouri Meerschaum Devil Cutty.

I wanted to give American aromatics another chance after years of shunning all but Mixture 79 (I do love that singular aromatic). I find them better now, but still not my cup of tea. I will cut these into predominantly codger tobacco until they are gone.

Enjoyed a tall stack of cinnamon raisin French toast with unsalted peanuts and a golden delicious apple on the side. Yesterday, @troutface prompted me to smoke a bowl of Strang by writing, "Smoke it Jim, we're not getting any younger." He's right, and so I at the half way mark of this bowl from a freshly opened tin of year 2000 VaPer Three Nuns in a 1938 straight black grain relief Dunhill OX Shell bulldog with a silver band repair with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Lavazza Classico, neat, is my drink.

Harry's back here, and doing well after being neutered and getting his shots. He has to stay inside four twenty-four hours, and then he'll go back to his outdoor life. Sam the Scamp is crying and banging on the back door wanting inside. I may bring her in for a short while later.

Watch City Cigar’s American Cut Plug in a Missouri Meerschaum Rob Roy. Thanks @JimInks for working with Mr. Ernie to bring us such a fine tobacco. It is my smoke of choice when working in the yard. It seldom needs a relight, so I don’t have to hose the caked dirt off my hands more than a couple times in a mid-sized bowl.
You're very welcome. And I agree with your assessment. It took seven tries to get it right, and the end version was a mix of my original recipe and Ernie's ideas. We were very happy about it of course, mostly because I wanted an upscale untopped OTC burley forward all day, easy going smoke, and Ernie likes to smoke blends like that on occasion, too.

Btw, you might be interested to know that there are seven varietals in the mix.
