Tobacco sammich: 3/4 PS41, 1/4 Haunted bookshop. Pete 338

Trying something out here.

I really like PS41, but often get some tongue bite. I believe that is more due to the effort it takes to get it going than the tobacco itself.

Someone on here recommended (sorry don't recall the user), when getting a difficult tobacco going - like some gawith flakes - they fill the bowl 3/4, then top it off with something easy burning to start a beefier ember. Sounds great, lets try it.

Cold snap over, temperature just above freezing, so a bit of work in the garden. Tabac Manil de la Semois (La Volute), in a Missouri Meerschaum. Very taken with how lovely cool and sweet a smoke an MM provides. But La Semois being a fast burner, I should have brought out a much bigger calibre pipe for more than a 20 minute smoke. Ah well. This stuff always leaves me wanting more, anyway...

1792 is easing in to a Sunday ? I want to know what you smoke when you really need a jolt. :ROFLMAO:
Well sometimes I had too much fun the night before and I’m just lying to myself about easing into the day when I’m really slapping myself across the face awake haha 🤣

But honestly I think Brown Irish X is much much stronger :)

That sounds like a really good idea! How did it workout?

double thumbs up, worked like a charm.

Wish I could give credit where due…but thanks to who recommended that idea.

Fyi a 338 is a fairly small chamber, i should have gone 2/3 & 1/3. But suspect if you have a standard 20x40mm, or larger, a 1/4 bowl should work fine.

Great to hear, I'm definitely going to try this out. Thank you!

Pipe Dreamer and Star Gazer
image.jpgChilly desert morning, 48 degrees F. First Gen Two Star Pipe by Lee Star Grain MAGIC STEM. This is a rare Lee using the Lord Davenport system - I doubt @Briar Lee owns one although I could be wrong. Smoking 88s - my own Virginia, Burley, and Oriental forward blend. I hope that blending tobaccos will continue to be available, but if not, I have about 3lbs jarred. It is a very pleasant and mild smoke.image.jpgimage.jpgThe stem goes all the way into the bowl. @Parsimonious Piper is the only other person I know who has one of these.
