Afternoon work smoke was Hearth and Home Prince Andrew in a Dr. Grabow.
A drugstore pipe for a drugstore blend.
I enjoyed it a lot.

I'm NOT gonna do this often, so don't dread me doing it on a regular basis, but I usually use 3 pipes for 3 bowls in the evening, with no breakfast smoke on weekdays. Tonight we had a mixed bowl of half Plum Pudding Bourbon (end of the tin), and half Briarworks Country Lawyer, an oriental blend with added cigar leaf, in the Erik Nording freehand sitter comfort pipe at center, good for at least a 1.5 hr. smoke (I layered the two blends, and it was pretty good). Then we had some recently out of cellar from 2021 Sutliff Black Cherry goopy aromatic in the regular, non-custom Nording smooth 2019 Rhinoceros at left, and I'm now just starting on a bowl of nothing but Briarworks Country Lawyer in the Briarworks Moonshine Cannonball at right.

Also shown: Prometheus pipe lighter (best I've found for deep bowls like the two Nordings have) and since some were including pocket knives, my Chris Reeve Mnandi with damascus steel and mammoth bone scales.

English blend night tonight! I've been putting my English blend dedicated Country Gentleman cob to work smoking Arango Balkan Supreme, Peterson Early Morning Pipe, then Cornell & Diehl Cordial.puffy

At the moment I'm rather torn between Arango Balkan Supreme and C&D Cordial for which is my current favorite English blend. I really like the smoothness of Balkan Supreme and how completely and utterly gentle and soft the retrohale is, which as someone who retrohales most sips from their pipe is greatly appreciated.

However, Balkan Supreme is a bit sweeter and less spicy and tangy than I'd like. Being spicy and tangy while still packing a good campfire'y Latakia punch is where C&D Cordial really shines, but the spiciness does make the retrohale a bit of a, "Fire in the hole!" situation and my sinuses aren't exactly thrilled about it. Cordial is also a bit rougher around the edges and much less smooth than Balkan Supreme. I think I'll have to smoke them both a lot more before I can decide on a favorite, and probably give C&D's Stratfordshire a try too since it seems to be in the same sort of blend family.

Half way through this bowl of year 2020 Angler's Dream in a 1984 Stanwell Antique 124 egg with a smooth brown front and a black sandblasted back with a dark gold ferrule and black vulcanite stem in the military mount style. Been feeding the ferals. Having a second cup of hot tea. I'm going to be posting less for a few days while I deal with various things.
