@Birddog66 Had a fantastic day at the Battle of Nantwich; met a lot of the Sealed Knot re-enactors & got to try 2 helmets on! Met 2 Sealed Knot members I'd smoked a clay with when I met them before, at Bolsover Castle in 2019 & Nottingham Pipe Show in 2022. One of the Musketeers lit my clay pipe of 1792 Flake with his match cord. Gave one of the Sealed Knot a smoke of my long clay pipe loaded with 1792 Flake - I think he was putting the smoke on when I photographed himI know it won’t be in keeping with the event but I’m sure you’ll be forgiven for using a zippo to light up.
@Cloozoe 1792 Flake in a clay at the Sealed Knot Battle of Nantwich yesterday. I think this is a baccy very well suited to the King's Clay. Met 2 re-enactors I'd smoked a clay with before; at the 2019 Sealed Knot event at Bolsover Castle and 2022 Nottingham Pipe Show. Both of them remembered the Clay King! The Clay King smoked a clay of 1792 Flake at last year's Nottingham Pipe Show as well - it definitely suits the King's Clay!
@renfield A great pipe & tobacco combination; I'll have to order 25g of Cannon Plug next time I go to see the Sealed Knot!Gawith Cannon Plug In a clay.

Last time there was a King Charles people wore wide brimmed hats and smoked clay pipes; I'm definitely keeping the "clay pipe of Gawith" tradition going in the reign of King Charles III!
I've never smoked G&H Dark Shag so I can't answer your question. I'd be surprised if it was similar due to the toppings on Stonehaven.I’ve not been able to get my hands on Stonehaven yet but I’ve heard it’s similar to GH Dark Shag, can you comment on that please Jim
I can tell you, I love the pipes you post here. You have beautiful examples of vintage American pipes. If I’m remembering correctly it’s from around 1920 but what with the creeping senility and all I might be wrong as well as jealous
