I know it won’t be in keeping with the event but I’m sure you’ll be forgiven for using a zippo to light up.
@Birddog66 Had a fantastic day at the Battle of Nantwich; met a lot of the Sealed Knot re-enactors & got to try 2 helmets on! Met 2 Sealed Knot members I'd smoked a clay with when I met them before, at Bolsover Castle in 2019 & Nottingham Pipe Show in 2022. One of the Musketeers lit my clay pipe of 1792 Flake with his match cord. Gave one of the Sealed Knot a smoke of my long clay pipe loaded with 1792 Flake - I think he was putting the smoke on when I photographed him:)

@Cloozoe 1792 Flake in a clay at the Sealed Knot Battle of Nantwich yesterday. I think this is a baccy very well suited to the King's Clay. One of the musketeers lit my clay with his match cord and I got to try 2 helmets on! Met 2 re-enactors I'd smoked a clay with before; at the 2019 Sealed Knot event at Bolsover Castle and 2022 Nottingham Pipe Show. Both of them remembered the Clay King! The Clay King smoked a clay of 1792 Flake at last year's Nottingham Pipe Show as well - it definitely suits the King's Clay!
Last time there was a King Charles people wore wide brimmed hats and smoked clay pipes; I'm definitely keeping the "clay pipe of Gawith" tradition going in the reign of King Charles III!

Good plan! Rumor has it that sticking with Charles I might be a bad play.
