Good morning folks, I just finished a bowl of GL Pease Gaslight, kindly sent to me by Samualgwaith01 along with some 2017 Regents Flake that I’ve just opened. Rubbing out the Flake the aroma is amazing, I’m gonna pack my Donegal Rocky Bulldog with this, sit back and enjoy.

2 years aged quiet night into my falcon meer with a dark roast coffee . Only smoking this pipe for 2 weeks trying to gain patina and let it rest 1 month (my others pipes start to get a little jealous)

Put them in a tin or pouch with a Boveda pack. It’s a small package that rehydrates tobacco, specifically designed to keep the correct humidity. They’re not expensive and they work but I’ve never tried them with 45yo cigarettes of course. I remember Rameses, a bloody good smoke, I quit cigs because Samson became unavailable in the UK and no other RYO tobacco could match it for me. I’m smoking Fire Dance in a Genoa Bantam Falcon at the mo.

Thanks very much for the suggestion but the 45 year old Fribourg & Treyer ciggies are thankfully in remarkably good condition having been kept in a drawer away from heat sources and have not dried out unlike the 106 year old ciggies from 1914 which certainly have:-



I was also a big fan of the Rameses - which I smoked throughout the 1980s right up to the early 1990s (even though they were priced @£9.99 for a pack of twenty which was considerably more expensive than any other brand on the market at the time and could only be sourced as far as I was aware from Davidoff in Jermyn Street and G. Smith & Sons in The Charing Cross Road).
I was sadly forced to abandon Rameses when new E.E.C. rulings about nicotine and tar content came into force - I forget now exactly when that was - which resulted in a recipe change from 16 mg. tar and 1.2 mg. nicotine to 12 mg. tar and 0.9 mg. nicotine and the ciggies became but a shadow of their former selves and that was the end for me:-

Probably not fair to say best. That’s kind of like ranking your own kids. But it’s ok for me to say, out of all your pipes I’ve seen, it’s my favorite. And no, I’m not trying to get you to give me the damn thing!

But then again, if you were a decent human being....
