I used to hang out there and Thunderbird in Tacoma several times a week from about 15 to 16 years ago until the pandemic shut downs. I built a 15 x 15 smoking lounge in the back of my 1200sf shop which is complete with full bathroom and bedroom. In the lounge is a full fridge, wine rack, tower style humidor (which i built about 18 years ago), TV, stereo system, tobacco and whisky shelves, etc. When i refer to "the smoking lounge," it's a private affair these days. Better alcohol and tobacco selection and a heck of a lot less expensive. :)

Waking smoke is a little blend i've been playing with the last week. 50% Winchester, 30% Dark Twist Roll Cake and 20% granulated perique. Diggin it. This round will be in a Radice billiard with coffee and then off to do the breakfast thing.

Your private smoking lounge sounds like a plan. I've never been one for a public scenario except back in the university days. The home environment of my place or friends' places, with just a friend or two, is for me the way to go. That sounds like a pretty spiffy blend you've come up with, too!

Enjoyed a Jethro Bodine size bowl of Raisin Bran with extra raisins thrown in, some unsalted peanuts and a golden delicious apple lunch. I'm near the half way mark of this bowl of year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Giving the 4AB Natural a day of rest. Gold Star Jamaican Estate Reserve, neat, is my drink. Looking forward to tonight's off diet dinner.

I'm on my second walk of the morning and trying out a mix of 2/3 Lane RLP-6 and 1/3 Five Brothers, in a Country Gentleman cob.

If you want to increase a blend's nicotine content without appreciably affecting the flavor, smoothness, or mechanics then Five Brothers seems to be the right tool for the job! Having just finished the pipe, the only difference at all I noticed in the taste of the smoke was that it was a little less sweet than RLP-6 usually is, but oh boy did that Five Brothers ever amp up the nicotine content!

It went from being a squarely mild blend to the lower end of strong, about the same as Nightcap in terms of nicotine strength. Nice for the evening, but a bit jarring to start my day with. In my future blending endeavors I think I'll cut the Five Brothers down to about 1/4 of the mix for a more medium strength smoke. Still, I do think it was a successful blending endeavor and that I have finally found the right mixer to increase a blend's Vitamin N content without altering the flavor. puffy
Absorbing post. I don't have the selection of tobaccos that you folks do down south, but I've found a similar niche for Smoker's Pride Classic, which is, as far as I know, burley with just a touch of vanilla. It stands very well on its own, too. Thanks for posting this.

A slice of morning life - watered the dog, and Just finishing up breakfast of a few dried apricots, half a dozen or so corn crackers, a handful of cashews and a banana, with cold coffee. Break-in stuff I posted for the past few days is now finished until the next round hopefully not for a couple of months.

Can't enjoy a pipe for at least an hour after eating, so just reviewing the early morning posts before I return to the den and either read or watch the news. Will light up a Precipes Caribbean, a pretty decent modestly priced cigar, in about a half hour. Early afternoon smoke will be posted in a few hours. Enjoy your morning. :) Hope your weather is as beautiful as this cool but stellar morning up here!
