I'm on my second walk of the morning and trying out a mix of 2/3 Lane RLP-6 and 1/3 Five Brothers, in a Country Gentleman cob.
If you want to increase a blend's nicotine content without appreciably affecting the flavor, smoothness, or mechanics then Five Brothers seems to be the right tool for the job! Having just finished the pipe, the only difference at all I noticed in the taste of the smoke was that it was a little less sweet than RLP-6 usually is, but oh boy did that Five Brothers ever amp up the nicotine content!
It went from being a squarely mild blend to the lower end of strong, about the same as Nightcap in terms of nicotine strength. Nice for the evening, but a bit jarring to start my day with. In my future blending endeavors I think I'll cut the Five Brothers down to about 1/4 of the mix for a more medium strength smoke. Still, I do think it was a successful blending endeavor and that I have finally found the right mixer to increase a blend's Vitamin N content without altering the flavor.
