Relaxing after a wonderful salad, wild caught cat fish and sugar snap peas dinner with strawberries for dessert. I'm near the half way mark of this bowl of year 2014 Full Virginia Flake in a straight 1968 Dunhill Shell bulldog with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. Abner the Eager was hear for a few hours for food and snooze, and after that, he wanted out. As cold as it is with a ice/snow storm warning in the forecast, I wonder if he'll come back before it hits us. Getting ready to watch the new Thomas Jefferson series on The History Channel.

Hi. My name is Bill. And after dinner when I want a rich satisfying tobacco for my pipe, I reach for STOCKTON by Mac Baren. It’s sweet virginias, dark fired and cavendish varieties create an honest and creamy full tobacco experience. Easy to pack, simply fold 3 or 4 coins and insert them into your pipe and relax as you light and tamp. Pick some up today at your favorite retailer near you!IMG_3003.jpeg

I hope some new smokers see this^^^^ post. It has a couple important points to know. First, to many of us, at least, without further clarification, if someone just says something tastes like tobacco, that means Burley. Many grew up around it. Some of us raised it.

And second, if you’re trying a totally new kind of blend for the very first time, even if you think it’s horrible the first time, try it again after a few days. You may turn out to love it. It’s especially common with Latakia addicts to have hated their first bowl.

You are so right about so many things! The first Latakia blend I tried was a balkan from Georgetown Tobacco called Persuasion. I thought it tasted like the Doc Marten boots I was wearing. It was so leathery. I am now a verified latakiaphile hahahaha.

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and am half way through this bowl of year 2018 Dunhill London Mixture in a brown medium bend 2002 Ser Jacopo Delecta Fatta A Mano R1 sandblast Rhodesian with a smooth extension at the shank with a military mount and a tapered black acrylic stem. Did a load of dishes, and fed three ferals.

Until I can find some kizami I'm having Daughters & Ryan Three Sails British style Virginia in one of the pipes I forgot to list in my initial Birthday Haul 2025 post—a Japanese nobe-kiseru decorated with a dragon motif. A nobe-kiseru pipe is a single piece of metal, and much less common than rau kiseru (made with three pieces—two metal ends, usually connected by bamboo). This cast iron pipe could be from the earlier or middle part of the Edo period (1603–1868), but there’s no way of really knowing; it is much bulkier and cruder than most kiseru pipes, which often look elegant (this makes me think it’s from an earlier part of the period). It measures about 8.0" in length; it’s not as long as most kenka-kiseru (fighting pipes) which would normally fall in the 12.0"–18.0" range, but it is entirely possible that it was used for eye gouging and could have been a fighting pipe.

I guess you could say that's an example of a primitive reverse calabash I guess if in fact the fat part is an expansion chamber. Beautiful piece of history you have there smoke it in good health.

Just one pipe today, after dinner, two cigars earlier. Lots of interesting study. Had a quite delightful smoke with my Standard Falcon, briar bowl, a fairly large one I usually use for codgers and light aros. It's especially good with Smokers' Pride Whiskey and Classic, two blends I like very much. Loaded it tonight with Borkum Riff Cherry Cavendish. Have up till now considered the Falcons great for straight codgers and the English/Navy tribe but not top drawer for aros. Those of you who know BR Cherry Cavendish will probably know it as a more sturdy type of aromatic with only a subtle cherry hint. At least it tastes that way to me. So, it fit in well with this pipe, and had a long and flavourful session with it.

Might try the same tobacco in a miniature before I crash. We'll see.

I lament the passing on of my falcon that I gave to a friend who was interested in pipe smoking so I gave away some of my pipes to him one of them being a similar falcon with a brandy bowl. It was of course for a good cause but I still miss having one. Enjoy Sir.

Snacked a little, and am smoking year 2018 Solani 633 in a straight 1954 patent Dunhill 148 Group 3 black shell bulldog made for the France market with a black saddle vulcanite stem. Watching a documentary about Amelia Earhardt with Tomato the Brave by my side. Daisy the Feral Princess is snoozin' on her blue blanket.

Enjoyed a little low calorie snacking, and am close to finishing this bowl of year 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a 1970s three quarter bend half smooth, half sandblasted Savinelli Autograph 4 military mount with a pearl brown acrylic ferrule and saddle stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink.
