Did a second set of walks, and smoked a bowl of year 2015 D&R A.B. Rimboche in an undated slight bend, smooth flame grain Wessex Standard egg with a brown accent on the black vulcanite saddle stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink for a while.

This is another pipe where I decided it made sense to have Savinelli 140° (2022 Edition, No. 1358/2800) in it.

I’m not sure of the maker as there are no stamps on the briar, but, the initials “W.B” are stamped on the left side of the metal ferrule.

The right side bears the date “FEB 7TH 1883.”

The pipe has a diamond shank and a marbled yellow amber stem with a spigot mount and orific bit. It could be from 1883 or is commemorating something that occurred in 1883. It seems fitting to smoke a pipe dated February 7th, 1883 on February 7th, 2023 on what is presumably the 140th Anniversary of whatever this pipe is paying tribute to—the fantasy in my head is it’s for the birth of a Barling son or grandson. One can dream.

Want some relaxation time, so I am smoking Mac Baren Virginia Flake in a 1980 black sandblasted full bent Ascorti Business Extension Saxaphone with a thin gold band accent and black acrylic saddle stem. Haven't smoked this blend or pipe in a long time, but I felt the need for something different.

Love Luiz's distinctive style (that's why I commissioned a full day set of 3 pipes from him -- an apple, a prince and a poker -- in his signature rusticated finish). Still haven't smoked them yet; waiting for a special occasion for their maiden smokes!
