Had a delightful bowl of SWRA in my MM Country Gent while doing some manual labor around the house. 55F today, and looks to be the same tomorrow...and then it's a week-long blizzard for us here in the SoCal mountains. I'm talkin' two feet cumulatively, and for us, that's a hell of a lot. Hope my pipes don't start decaying from disuse.

Bird report: California scrub-jay, Steller's jay, Dark-eyed junco, California towhee, California thrasher, Common raven, Red-tailed hawk, White-crowned sparrow, Mountain chickadee, and White-breasted nuthatch.

So this whole "Peterson" aspect of IPSD is news to me, but I'm game. I may fill my MM mini cob with something as I batten down the hatches and get ready for the next snow. My only open Peterson blends at the moment are Sherlock Holmes and Irish Whiskey. Got some thinking to do...

Happy IPSD everyone!

This is maybe my favorite of my recent estate pipe acquisitions. I'm a big fan of leather wrapped pipes, and finding a Longchamp in this squat bulldog shape in excellent condition was a real score. This pipe alone is worth what I paid for the entire lot of 16 pipes. The Granger smoked very well in it.

Enjoyed a very late lunch, and am half way through this bowl of Charatan Rolls in a 1980s White Pipe straight lattice apple meerschaum with an acrylic yellow cream colored saddle stem. Putting finishing touches on my review of this blend. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Going to give my clays and lungs a rest over Lent; I'll have to put my clays and baccy in the loft so I'm not tempted:)
Only got one working lighter now; I'll get mine refilled after Easter. Please wish me good luck!
I shouldn't need my disposable plastic made in China lighters once I've learned to light my pipe with flint & steel:)
Going to save my empty tobacco tins for my slow match and firelighting kit.

You know that now you HAVE to post a video of you lighting a pipe with flint and steel!

Now Smoking: Pre-Dominican pouched Prince Albert, in a 5.5" Peterson, Ashford 68, smooth brandy/apple, sterling silver band, bent acrylic stem with fishtail bit - and, after-market Bryco-brand - the best! - rubber Softy-Bit added for comfort, chatter protection and wonderfully secure hang-ability.

Seems it was not only on my pipes which get 'cleaned and flushed out' this week, as there will be absolutely no dinner tonight except for Chicken Broth for your friend and humble narrator, as I am relegated to drinking ONLY a gawd-awful concoction prior to getting a routine "scoping" early tomorrow morning.

It's a hideous swill which likely "pairs well" with nothing in my entire tabak inventory... except maybe some Mixture 79 .

However, following that invasive, overly-familiar and unwelcome exam, Wifey shall rescue me up from the doctor of dubious distinction and questionable motivations; and, whisk me away to our local iHop restaurant - where your intrepid hero and Brother-of-the-Briar, shall gorge and feed and fest on a chin-high stack of pancakes, slathered in melted butter and hot maple syrup... and, wonder why that doctor doesn't owe me a dozen roses and a box of sweets. - Sherm Natman
