Tragic? I get what you are saying but I think it’s tragic to leave pipes unsmoked. I get the idea of having some examples of what they were like new, maybe photos are enough. We need a museum, I could see having unsmoked pipes in a museum.
like to think that we collectors are a museum of sorts and I have many other pipes including other Yello Bole’s. These will most likely stay in the cabinet with some other unsmoked treasures I have and hopefully find their way to someone else that’ll treasure and post about them for others to see. But I do get your point and appreciate it and agree in some respects.

I agree, it’s not like I’m short on pipes so I think these will be saved for the careful collector that gets them when I’m gone. I know many folks think they should be smoked but some old pipes should survive in pristine condition.
I understand where you are coming from, we need more pipe museums, or at least one. 😂

Well, this last day of the year features a few firsts for me.
The pipe is an estate I got a while ago but had not gotten around to smoking. It is a Dr. Plumb "Super", a bent briar egg with a saddle stem and a carved finish that reminds me of a pinecone. Very lightweight a good clencher.
Stuffed it with another first for me, Presbyterian.
That I found this blend to be absolutely wonderful is probably no surprise to those who have smoked it. My only regret is that I did not try this blend sooner, it will be in my regular rotation from now on.

It is a bit cool here, so I went out with a mug of hot, English rose tea which coincidently, paired perfectly with this blend.

Here's wishing my fellow pipe-smokers a very Happy and Prosperous New Year! puffy
