Now smoking D&R Penhooker Silver in a straight smooth brown undated pre-Republic Peterson Shamrock 263 Canadian with a nickel band and a tapered black p-lip stem. Working and listening to Calling All Cars from my own radio collection.

Seems as though some of the makers put some nasty bowl coatings in their pipes. I've heard several members comment on the acrid taste. My Rossi was that way. Horrible experience. It went away after a few smokes. Hope yours does as well.
Yes I've had those that I've had to smoke through before most notably in the Rossi Vittorias'. This though, was unbearable. The taste lingered in the mouth as well. Hopefully, I've removed enough to continue the break-in process unimpeded.

A quarter of the way through this bowl of year 2012 Carter Hall in a black rusticated medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY 4AB No. 437/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. This will do it for me today.
