A rare slow morning for me today and it's an unseasonally cool summer's day in the Northeast - perfect day for some latakia!

2012 McC's Rose of Latakia in this Nate King Meerschaum prince:

ODF in a Bruce Weaver. I had to resist another Bruce acorn sandblast on EBay, I will be getting more of his eventually, just already spent my pipe allowance for 2023 and then some! 😂 This thing smokes great, feels good in hand, and looks great to me. Not sure how there’s feel about it esthetically but that’s “taste” for ya.

It's a DIY kind of day.

The tobacco: "The False Commodore" - 50% Stirling Flake / 50% blending Latakia. An attempt to approximate Sillem's Commodore Flake (and use up the Stirling flake). Turned out pretty nice!

The pipe: "The Heartbreaker." So named because the giant void in the briar didn't reveal itself until the final stages of shaping. Didn't see the point in staining it. Still smokes great though.

Been in G.L Pease mood lately. Yesterday I tried Haddo's Delight for the first time and sadly, wasn't a fan. It smelled exactly like grape Big League Chew gum from my childhood. Which was fun, but not enjoyable in the pipe. After that I had some Stratford which I really like. This morning I am enjoying some Sixpence in a Stanwell 84 shape. I love this tobacco and this pipe smokes wonderfully. IMG_20230810_080807.jpg

Half way through this bowl of early 2000s Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. Braves-Pirates game starts in ten minutes. The rain has been here since morning.
