Finished up a tasty bowl of Squadron Leader in the cob I devote to Englishes:

The chamber on this one has always seemed slightly narrower than my other cobs, and the only explanation I can think of is that I bought it when Missouri Meetschaum couldn’t get enough cobs in their usual size. This posed a problem when I wanted to use a windscreen because any cake meant it was hard to install. So I’ve been carefully and gradually boring it out with sandpaper on a dowel, trying to keep the bore round and the walls vertical. So far so good!

I haven’t smoked this pipe in awhile. Going to have McClelland Frog Morton on the Town (2017) in a Comoy’s Olympic Freehand, circa 1948 (to commemorate the London Olympics of that year).

Some other angles, since this isn’t a common pipe:

Next to a Savinelli 320 KS Series III for a sense of scale.

Still plugging away at this tin of Midsommar. I'm having to take a break from Bellamy since my tongue really hates aros so much no matter how dry and slow (though the Bellamy isn't nearly as bad as others). Think I need to pick up a few smaller clay pipes to use with most aros (I just can't spread a bowl out through the day).

Went to the hospital and took my friend home. We're relieved that the news was all good. I'm a quarter of the way through this bowl of C&D Virginia Flake in straight medium brown 1922-1937 Irish Free State era Peterson 222 bullcap with a sterling silver band and a tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem. Larry's Espresso #9, neat, is my drink.
