I have a question about 558. When I first smoked it, sour was all I got from it. As I got deeper in the bowl, it just got more sour. Does that mellow over time? Wicked pipe, by the way.

Sounds like it could've benefited from some drying time or you got it too hot.
Both are quite possible. A lot has changed in the month or so that I have been smoking a pipe. My technique has improved to the point where I am no longer scorching the tobacco. I will let it sit in the jar for a bit and try again.
Let some dry for about thirty minutes and see if there's any improvement.
C&D Opening Night, in a Radice Rind Straight.
Just opened the tin today, and had a bowl straight away from it that dried for 15-20 mins. Reading what some others have said about giving some tins some wait time, I could say, this blend I received seemed a little on the green side, and could use a few weeks or months of sitting.
I’ll give it a go again in a few weeks, of course we all know that isn’t much time like years.
So as a fresh opened tin, the Bright VA(s) seemed more predominant, and the blend wasn’t as sweet as I was hoping for, but maybe some sitting will sweeten it a little.
Well, still on the hunt for a sweeter red VA... hmm ?
