A rare Lazy Monday for me today just doing some housekeeping around the pig sty, a lot of work to do everywhere but I got to enjoy these dueling Nate Kings today - Sun Bear Mountain Flower in the Troll Poker in the foreground and some Frog Morton Across the Pond in the Bamboozled Bopot.

#2 - Capt Black Dark Cavendish:

Recipe and Comments:

1
. Get a package of Phillies Blunts Grape Flavoured Cigars
2
. Take one out and unwrap it
3. Cut it into 4 segments with your favourite knife
4. Put it into a coffee grinder, and pulse three or four times quickly. Not too much, you don't want to pulverize it. Don't forget the wrapping - it's part of the mix . . .
5. Put the resultant tobacco into a container
6. Add 4 (I prefer 5, but you may not) equal parts of Captain Black Dark Cavendish and place it in a sturdy bag along with the ground up cigar
7. Let it sit a couple or three days to infuse, shaking the baggie up every few hours
8. Pack it in a test pipe to give it a whirl.

Comments:

Yah, it ain't Captain Black Grape Tobacco, but it ain't bad, either. I'd smoke it ahead of a couple of other blends of tobacco in my stores, and until the ridiculous situation with this much maligned tobacco (which admittedly I've never tried because it (was?) only available in 8 ounce tins and not in Canada) is presently the only game in town as far as I know, with respect to grape flavoured pipe tobacco. And I repeat, it ain't that bad at all.

I'll be tweaking one other mix with the cigar remnants - Classic has possibilities, but that's another post with which I can bore the :poop: out of y'all (yah, I really do use that Southern ejaculation in my everyday speech, just as frequently as "eh", which is distinctly Canuck). SWR didn't make it and as far as I'm concerned I'd rather smoke Borkum Riff Dark on it's own 'cuz it's a stellar tobacco which I don't want to waste on a mix. If I change my mind I'll let you know. Gonna smoke the 4:1 mix of this tonight.

Cheers.

Earlier, I smoked a bowl of Wilke Surbrug’s Golden Sceptre in a late 40s, early 50s straight black sandblasted Wagner British Thorn 495 (Comoy’s second) pot with a black vulcanite saddle stem.

Currently, I've passed the first third of this bowl of Wilke 10 Downing Street in an undated straight, smooth flame grain Wessex Standard billiard with a brown accent on the tapered black vulcanite stem. Taking a break from cleaning estate pipes. I also cleaning those I smoked.

I smoked half my body weight in Borkum Riff Original back in the 80’s
Then it was Swedish Match I think. I haven’t tried the current production but I’d assume STG now.

Covering a route in MS today while we get everyone ahead for taking off on Good Friday. This means a late lunch break at Spring Street in Southaven. Scooped up the last 5oz of Cowboy Coffee they had left (oh the monster you created, @PrivatePiping 😅) and I'm now enjoying some of it in my One Anse.

I was told that Spring Street as a whole will no longer be carrying Country Squire blends following the opening of their new Jackson, MS location. Not sure what this means for their bulk offerings as the rest of it was Sutliff stuff...

Edit: Their other offerings are C&D. They may just expand the line which wouldn't be bad.
Hahaha! You're welcome! 😁
