Ya know, that is truly the ugliest pipe I've ever fallen in love with. :ROFLMAO: I've been toying with buying a nosewarmer for my next pipe . . . . if I do, you know what I'm going to try to get, eh? Finally got used to that tiny, miniature cob without scorching it or my fingers, so I figure I'm about ready. Where on earth did you get that pipe? Enquiring minds want to know. The closest musical analogy I can think of is Arcana, by the avante garde composer Varese. It's one of my favorite pieces by the way. Enjoy! as I've enjoyed looking at that pipe!

This is the classic recording, without score, that we all grew up with in the 60's, just for comparison, and I believe it was the first one . . . . . no orchestra had ever attempted a recording of it before because of it's difficulty until the best orchestra in the world, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, pulled off the feat with incredible French conductor Jean Martinon. Now, it's a staple!

It’s an acquired taste for a shape and finish but I love them dearly. The Castello KK10’s especially in a Sea Rock finish smoke like champs.
A similar model can be had from Radice as well and called a Chubby Billiard.
Luca @ Tabaccheria Corti a sponser here is usually who I deal with on Castello’s. His pricing, shipping speeds and white glove style of service is superb. If Luca carries it you can be certain it will flip the bill and you’ll be happy with him. That being said if he doesn’t have exactly what you want listed he can obtain it. He also carries Radice.

Covering a route in MS today while we get everyone ahead for taking off on Good Friday. This means a late lunch break at Spring Street in Southaven. Scooped up the last 5oz of Cowboy Coffee they had left (oh the monster you created, @PrivatePiping 😅) and I'm now enjoying some of it in my One Anse.

I was told that Spring Street as a whole will no longer be carrying Country Squire blends following the opening of their new Jackson, MS location. Not sure what this means for their bulk offerings as the rest of it was Sutliff stuff...

Edit: Their other offerings are C&D. They may just expand the line which wouldn't be bad.

Did a set of walking reps on this beautiful day, and smoked a bowl of year 2016 D&R Three Sails in a slight bent black pattern etched 1977 Lorenzo Lorsan Sigma level top billiard with a gray swirl acrylic saddle stem. Tomato the Brave laid across the top of the steps when I came back to make sure he got my attention. And he did.

Quite a pipe show going on today . . . seems to happen every Monday! My smokin' buddy Stu, a mechanic by trade but also a very skilled woodworker (that's his hobby), has just invested $$$$ in pipe making tools. We're going out this week to look at briar and other woods to get him started, and I'm his first customer. It's going to take a while, but by the beginning of June, I should have the first fruits. Will keep this thread in the loop. He's done a couple already with what he has, and the results look very promising indeed.

In the meantime, one of my highlight smokes of the past erratic week was an about time return to my Ropp J07 and C&D Steamworks. What can I say? A match made in Heaven.

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and smoking year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. The last of this bag of Gold Star Yemen Mocha High Grown, neat, is my drink. Going to see how the three estate pipes have dried, and how much more work I have to do to get them to neutral.

If you’re used to English and Balkan blends, I’m curious. Which ones do you like?

I generally like most latakia blends I try. My current favorites are GLP Westminster, Match 965, Old Limey Bastard, Balkan Supreme, Nightcap, Billy Budd, Match 759.

The bag note on Captain Bob is awesome. Taste didn't seem to translate.
