There's a building outside @dunnyboy 's window he posted sometime back that seems so familiar; I feel like I've walked past it in the city. It's been driving me nuts.

The building lit up in blue is the ConEd building on Irving Place and 14th St. The view looking south from the window of my apartment is of the lights commemorating the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

Thanks. It is a cozy spot. With a cracked window, the draft from the fireplace also helps draw the smoke out of the room. So a "working" fireplace!

Good Sunday morning all and happy Easter. I've brought the cobs out of hiatus recently and am enjoying the change of pace. Old Dark Fired to start the day while watching the second FA Cup semi-final, and HH Pure Virginia on deck for later.

We used to have a brownstone on the Upper Westside near the park but sold it to the private school next door when we downsized. The brownstone had one wood-burning fireplace. The apartment we live in now has two gas fireplaces. It was built in 1883 to simulate the feel of a brownstone in order to entice the gentry who were not yet used to living in multiple family dwellings. In the cooler weather the fireplaces do come in handy.
