Rattrays 2010 tin of Dark Fragrent in my Chartan Freehand Relief Extra Large. Ring grain is a joy to hold. When I got this pipe on Ebay years ago for a $1.98 it was splattered with white paint, holes in the bit and caked to a pencil width opening. Restored it in my shop.

Now smoking Prince Albert in a 2015 Basil Meadows black sandblasted billiard with an aluminum band and a pearl red acrylic tapered stem.

Cleaned up one of my grandfather’s pipes today - LHS Certified Purex. First smoke is Orlik DSK. I have about 7 others to prep. I’m enjoying this smoke though the draw is much more restrictive than I’m used to.

Now smoking D&R Ryback in a smooth straight late 1970s Charatan Special 4148DC Reg. No. 203573 pot with a black double comfort vulcanite stem. Time for another set of walking reps.

Thanks! I don’t have a hard date. Best I can figure is post-WWII. This model was introduced in 1944 ($3.50!) and the imported briar stamp was used post war. Sterncrest closed in the 60s.

I'm guessing your GF was a WW2 vet. My father was in the Navy. Pipes were a great source of comfort to them. I am glad you have his pipes.
