he doesn't give a shit about you. you think this is going to affect his cigar smoking?
Don't you mean he doesn't care about us?
Yeah, I hear ya about how it won't affect his cigar smoking, but nothing new there...he wouldn't be the first politician covering his own cigar needs before enacting an embargo creating a new agency.

I am using "you" as a general term... I didn't mean to single out you specifically.
None of these politicians do when it comes to tobacco.
They aren't going to take a stand FOR tobacco, when so many are AGAINST tobacco.
They would rather play both sides... and for that I mean continuing the agenda against tobacco, while harboring "good will" towards it.

Haha, clearly you have forgotten that you can now say whatever you want. It does not matter if it is true or not, you can just say it is or isn't and that's enough.

As long as your fat backed dullard constituents slobbering all over their wifebeaters and howling at the TV in some squalid bar, half drunk on king hell portions of stale beer and half price apps keep gobbling it up like a pit of rabid wolverines being tossed the juicy caribou leg they've always believed they were entitled to, it doesn't matter.

There will be no repercussions, there will be no refutations, but there will be TV ratings, rally tickets sold, and doors opened for quasi-legal back door shenanigans galore in the upper echelons of a reality TV government with a shit nest of smarmy weasel-faced characters and behind the scenes networks that we will never relate to or understand.

“The way is shut. It was made by those who are Dead, and the Dead keep it, until the time comes. The way is shut.”

Getting tobacco away from the FDA: great idea...because it's total BS that it was ever put under that agency to begin with.

Creating an entirely new federal agency for any purpose whatsoever: horrible idea.

Adding another tentacle to the giant vampire squid for any reason is so inadvisable.
Falling into the clutches of the FDA has been the cigarette companies (whose interest in cancer sticks dwarfs the cigar and pipe tobacco part of the trade) nightmare for decades. Now that they have, they want out. A wet dream, DOA. The anti tobacco forces have them right where they want them. There they shall stay. Pipe tobacco consumers won’t get a single break.

And that has been the condition of much most of the federal government for at least several decades now.

Funny how a lot of people seem to just now be noticing it.

Perhaps. But any time there is a suggestion that a federal agency is targeting major corporations I'm always skeptical.

Chances are the small and medium size businesses will be the only real casualties. That's how the game normally works. Then the "regulators" can stroll through the revolving door to their cushy jobs in the corporate boardrooms.

Oh, Ok, cool, I'm glad Rudy doesn't just have it out for me ?
I know it's grasping at straws. Giuliani has given no indication that he might lobby Trump on behalf of tobacco in any form...just trying to see if I can find any light at the end of the tunnel besides the freight train barrelling full steam ahead toward us...but yeah, it's a long shot.

Yep. Politics is just show business for ugly people.

I think more people are just now beginning to notice it more because the speed at which content is delivered today no longer requires the consumer to pay attention for any length of time.

You can be exposed to all you need on your smartphone during your morning dump. No longer have to read the paper, watch the news, or read up on the subject to see any of it. It’s all right in front of everyone with the mere click of a button.

People without the attention span to care before, now do.

Small and medium sized players in the US tobacco business are a small, diminishing segment. They are going to get screwed regardless of whether by the FDA or some wet dream to be created agency located elsewhere. The relocation proposal in the budget will not fly past the do gooders, who have more influence at the FDA than they would ever have under some new sub department of a department that reports to any President, much less Trump.

Except the short attention span masses out there living on sound bites from the corporate mass-media cartel never get the big picture. They are led to go down certain paths and steered away from others.

Hence you have the epidemic of Trump derangement syndrome where these people actually think that he is somehow much worse than the "deep-state" swamp creatures he's supposedly wrestling with.

Perception management is how the game is run.

Well all I know is the FDA's track record with the food and pharmaceutical industries is pretty abysmal.

It's a rigged game. Monopoly capitalism and socialism are just two sides of the same coin.

Can’t help but agree. It is utilized and abused by everyone involved on every side of the aisle. Affiliation is often just a matter of which shamboozling the consumer decides to buy.

But there’s no argument for a flat-out liar. Period.
? ?

No, there's not...which is why you can't argue for just about any of them.

The more you dig, the more you'll figure out it's pretty much all a lie. You can't take any of it at face value.

We now live in a time where people get paid millions of dollars to read to the public whatever content is loaded into their teleprompters and we call it journalism.

Go back and watch the '70s movie Network...it was satire then...now it's obsolete.

The biggest lie of all is the lie of omission.

The primary way they control what people think is by controlling what they think about.

People in the U.S. are obsessed with the office of the President...but he's not really running anything.
